She came to us already loved.
For many years she was affectionately known as the Old Girl. When she came into our lives, we wanted to honour the life she'd already lived while imagining a new one for her.
Somewhere along the way, the Old Girl became Nan.
Because Nan is the one who puts the kettle on. Who makes room at the table. Who listens to your stories and reminds you that you belong.
She comes to this kaupapa already loved. Now we're getting her ready for her next adventure.
With Nan, we can go to the people.
We imagine her pulling up at marae, kura, small towns and communities throughout Aotearoa.
The doors open. The kettle goes on. The crochet comes out.
Tamariki sit alongside kaumātua. Stories are shared. People make things together. Someone might come in for a cuppa simply because they needed somewhere to be that day.
Just come as you are.
First, we need to get our girl on the road.
Nan needs significant rust and mechanical repairs before she can safely begin her journey.
