About the event

Wharenui Harikoa is a living, breathing manifestation of kaupapa Māori, crafted from vibrant neon yarns and adorned with intricate crochet designs that honour our tūpuna (ancestors). Each loop tells a story of resilience, healing, and the power of connection – inviting you to experience mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge) through a modern artistic lens.

Interactive Spaces

This immersive exhibition invites you to explore not just visually but kinaesthetically. With spaces dedicated to interaction, such as the Making Wishes corner where you can write your hopes and dreams to be offered to Hiwa-i-te-rangi during the next Matariki, Wharenui Harikoa is more than an artwork – it’s a space for transformation and reflection.
