This is a hand-drawn digital illustration- open edition.
A moment in time that reflects some of the pou found in Wharenui Harikoa.
Collaborating with Linda Munn (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Pūkenga, Ngāti Ātiawa, Ngāi Tahu), this represents our Atua associated with all that thrives above the ground and is linked to the food that descends from the sky, connecting it to the world of birds. Traditionally, kererū were hunted because they were plump from consuming tawa berries.
We observe how the Ngahere (forest) serves as a protective cloak around this Atua and, indeed, around all of us, conveying the beauty and significance of our native forests.
